How an Estate Sale Works, Step by Step

Most sales move from first call to broom-clean in about two to four weeks, depending on the size of the home and your closing or moving date. Here is exactly what happens.

1

Free consultation

We visit the property (or start by video call), walk every room and outbuilding with you, and talk through your timeline and goals. You receive our rate in writing — a single percentage of gross sales — before you sign anything. See Our Rates.

2

Inventory & pricing

Our team sorts, catalogues, researches, and prices the contents. Family keepsakes you are keeping are set aside first — nothing you want to keep is ever sold.

3

Staging & marketing

The home is cleaned, staged, and photographed like a boutique. The sale is marketed through estate-sale platforms, our buyer lists, local signage (where permitted), and — for equestrian sales — equine buyer networks.

4

Sale days

Typically two to three sale days. C & G staffs the door, floors, and checkout; handles all payments; and manages buyer flow, parking, and gated-community access rules.

5

Itemised accounting & broom-clean

After the sale you receive an itemised accounting of sold items and proceeds. Unsold items follow the plan you chose — keep, donate (including the donate-the-remainder option), or haul-away — and the home is left broom-clean.

Don't spend another weekend sorting a house alone.

Book a free walk-through today. The consultation is free, unhurried, and comes with a written rate quote — no obligation. Se habla español.
